Hi! My name is Rudolf. I’m a researcher, advisor, and nature lover living in Toronto. Having grown up in South Africa and immigrated to Canada, I’ve had the chance to see the world through different people’s eyes, and learned that everyone has a valuable perspective to share. As such, my goal is to engage people from all walks of life to build a better world.
As an analyst at the HR research and advisory firm McLean & Company, I research best practices in managing and developing an organization’s people, and advise HR leaders on how to implement those practices. I previously worked as an independent consultant with multi-national companies Compass Group and ADP, and in community development roles at Abbotsford Community Services and the World University Service of Canada. I’ve really enjoyed working across cultures and organizational levels, from volunteering in the Middle East and South Africa; to working with frontline staff and executives to create success profiles; to convening community members to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week.
I hold a master’s degree in industrial relations and human resources from the University of Toronto, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Victoria. During my master’s, I also conducted research on teams and diversity funded by the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council (SSHRC; an agency of the Canadian government).
I write about challenges and opportunities facing communities and organizations to be more inclusive, collaborative, innovative, and data-driven. Through Perspectives, I hope to share the power of perspectives by making these topics accessible to a wider audience to engage more people in the conversation about how to make the world a better place. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on these important issues!
